ROBERT “BOB” MCPARTLAN
Council Member
Bob was born in Brooklyn, New York where faith, family and a commitment to service were instilled in him at an early age by his parents. At eighteen, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician, rising to the rank of Sergeant. After the Army he graduated from the State University of New York at Albany with a B.A. in Political Science and English.
He remained in the Army Reserves for several years and was activated for Operation Desert Storm. For the next decade, he worked in several different capacities which, along with his training in the Army, helped him develop a unique set of leadership and professional skills.
In 2001, Bob began a career with the Florida Department of Children and Families. He started as a Child Protective Investigator and quickly rose through the ranks becoming a Supervisor at the Child Advocacy Center in Brevard County. In July 2008 Bob was promoted to Program Administrator for all Child Protective Investigations for Circuit 19; encompassing Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin and Okeechobee Counties. In April 2013 Bob was promoted to DCF Community Development Administrator for Circuit 19.
In November 2011 Bob was elected to the Sebastian City Council and after the November 2012 elections Bob was unanimously selected by his peer Council members to serve as the Mayor for the coming year. While on the Council, Bob has continued to advocate for domestic violence awareness as well as foster care, adoption, and the Guardian Ad Litem program. He continues to serve on the Sebastian City Council.
Bob serves on many boards throughout the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee. He serves on the Indian River County Executive Roundtable, the Indian River Children’s Services Advisory Committee, IRC Metropolitan Planning Organization, Okeechobee Executive Roundtable, Okeechobee Children’s Services Council, St. Lucie County Executive Roundtable, Circuit 19 Juvenile Justice Advisory Board, Treasure Coast Homeless Services Council and the Central Florida Medical Disaster Committee. While on the Council, Bob has continued to advocate for domestic violence awareness as well as foster care, adoption, and the Guardian Ad Litem program.
The McPartlan family consists of wife, Tiffany, adult children Morgan and Bobby as well as 10 year old twins Reagan and Rylee.
